Dame Betty Ridley, DBE

Dame Betty Ridley DBE, MA, Third Church Estates Commissioner, 1972-81; a Church Commissioner, 1959-81, died at Winchester, 1 August, 2005. She was aged 95.She was born Mildred Betty Mosley, 10 September, 1909, daughter of the Rt Rev Henry Mosley, sometime Bishop of Southwell, and was educated at the North London Collegiate School; Cheltenham Ladies' College.Career: -->> Member of the General Synod of the Church of England, 1970-81, and its Standing Committee, 1971-81; Central Board of Finance, 1955-79; Member, Faculty Jurisdiction Commission, 1980-83; Vice-President, British Counci of Churches, 1954-56, &c.She was appointed DBE in 1975.She married in 1929, the Rev. Michael Ridley, Rector of Finchley (who died in 1953), and had three sons and one daughter.The funeral took place at Basingstoke Crematorium, 4 Aug, 2005.
